Starting in Urtaca, this 5-km round-trip heritage hike follows an old trail that once connected Urtaca to Lama. The trail reveals numerous remnants of the region’s agricultural and pastoral past: sheepfolds, haylofts, threshing floors, dry-stone walls, centuries-old olive trees, and terraced fields all tell the story of daily life in days gone by and the expertise of the local people.
The route leads to the medieval village of Lama, founded in the 13th century. Its cobblestone alleys and elegant mansions, inspired by Tuscan architecture, bear witness to the region’s past prosperity.
With an elevation gain of 230 m, this accessible hike offers superb panoramic views of the Canale Valley and the surrounding landscapes. It’s a wonderful opportunity to explore a living heritage where nature and history intertwine at every turn of the trail.
