Alternative Balagne... Populated since Neolithic times, Galeria and the hamlets were a well-known transhumance site for the herdsmen of the Niolu region. The area is still devoted to livestock and dairy farming.
Covering an area of ??135 km², Galeria was completely ruined by the barbaresques and the Genoese at the end of the 15th century.

The village, although located by the sea, has retained its mountain spirit with its many hamlets scattered over its vast territory, a heritage of the great transhumance of Niolu shepherds.

Located at the mouth of the Fangu, it offers the view of the visitor, its fishing port, its two beaches and, going up the river, vast natural pools carved out of rhyolite and porphyry.

Galéria is also the maritime window of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica with the magnificent Scandola reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: two establishments in the Regional Park host nature classes and scientists who have come to study the reserve. natural.

Today, surrounded by unspoiled nature, Galeria is also the starting point for hikes from which many small accommodation facilities have been built.

Sights...

A Torra di a Foce di u Fangu, or the Calcinaghja tower, built between 1551 and 1573. Currently under restoration, "A Torra" now belongs to the municipality of Galéria and is used for various traditional and cultural events.

Nature sites: Scandola nature reserve (boat trips off the coast from the port), the Fangu delta, U Ponte di E Cinque Arcate and U Ponte Vecchju. The latter is probably the oldest of the valley's three bridges.
